Dam it was cold this morning, wet and WINDY!
Today was a cold introduction back to english sailing the rain wasn't nice
either. 5mill of rubber isn't nice after rash vest and shorts in Dahab
Met up with Wes at sandbanks wind was cross off so rigging was a bit of a
hit and miss affair. Wes went out with 5.7 I followed with a 5.8. Things
felt ok til I got out to the wind line then it was Bang I was so over
powerd it was unreal managed to hold on for a while but was a real white
knuckle ride. I wasn't out long only a couple of runs tryed to gybe at
end of one run, BIG mistake just glad I was wearing a boyancy aid cos I
came off and hit something not sure if it was board, mast, boom or all
three could of been painful.
Decided to give it a rest for a while Wes and myself headed up for a look
round the windsurfing shop.......made sure I left wallet in car so not to
buy anything. Also too a walk along the seafront loads of mad people out
looked way to scary for me masses of waves and white water. Went back to
the harbour where the water was flatter more my cup of tea.
Seanbo turned up just as I was derigging my 5.8 as I didn't fancy
breaking me or the kit, rigged 5.3 the smallest I have.
First run out on the 5.3 was brilliant nicely powered up managed to get a
fantastic jump in hit a bit of chop and lauched it bared away and landed
nice and gently, best jump so far. Then the wind dropped could barely
waterstart to get back ended up way down wind and had the walk of shame
back up the beach.
Sat around back in the car for a while trying to warm up a bit hopefuly
waiting for the wind to come back it didn't.
Rigged up 7m on big techno had some good runs managed a couple of gybes
but nothing spectacular took a trip across to Brownsea Island then on the
the way back going flat out then got a bit close to a bouy and WHAM fin
caught on rope and I was right over the front lucky didn't break anything
but managed to to get cramp in my leg when i was ripped out of the straps
took a while to get myself back on the board got back to shore and decided
to call it a day.
Bit of a heavy introduction to sailing back in England and all the rigged
practice I didn't need!
